A Friday night fundraising basketball jamboree is set for Mar 4 in the high school gym. Admission costs 25 cents for students and 50 cents for adults. Evening events include grade school and senior level games, with mixed teams and varied rules, and refreshments by the senior class to support the class trip. Rites Held Saturday for Gus Anderson
Funeral services were held Saturday February 27 at Avoca for Gus Earl Anderson 74 formerly of Anita. The Rev Joseph Gerst officiated with interment in Anita Evergreen cemetery. He was born June 14 1885 south of Anita grew to manhood and farmed until 1933 when he moved to Neola. For 18 years he lived at Avoca. He died February 25 after heart trouble and a stroke at Harlan Hospital. He is survived by his wife Francis of Avoca and a son Thomas Anderson of Anita.
