War veteran undergoes appendectomy in Des Moines

Harvey Scholly a World War II veteran entered the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines for an appendectomy on Friday. He was accompanied by his father and mother Mr and Mrs Cwell Scholl. He expects release later this week. On Sunday the Scholls and Harvey drove to Des Moines to visit with the injured husband.

Greater Anita club sponsored a Get Together at the Anita Public School Gym where over 800 merchants and farmers attended. Supt D. BR acted as master of ceremonies and presented awards. Fire Extinguished After Kerosene Stove Explosion

Austa Volunteer Fire Department answered a Friday call to extinguish a blaze at the Harold Wilson home on Chestnut Street caused by a kerosene stove explosion in the basement. Mrs. Wilson lit the stove triggering smoke and a draft of clothing losses as the house sustained heavy smoke damage. estimated damage set at 400 dollars.
