Anita's Athletic Renaissance at Anita High
Anita High principal Bert Adams and Ron Dittemore led three-year era of strong teams earning 18 titles and multiple runner ups. The coaches moved on this season with Adams to Grinnell and Dittemore to Grand Junction. Their squads posted an 8-0 football season and high marks in basketball and track with a culture of sportsmanship.

Anita Spartans set ten new school marks in track this season across all five relays and individual events. Denny Sims topped two of his records and joined three relays, with wins in long jump 22 54 and hop step jump 47 10. Gary Jensen cleared 5 11 3 4 and Kenny Harrison threw 43 L 3 8 in the shot put. The 440 and 880 relays clocked 46 2 and 1 35 5, while the medley relay reached 3 45 2, all eclipsing prior marks set in 1961.

Daily Vacation Church School opened June 3 at the Methodist Church with 83 enrollments. The two week program runs 9 to 11 am Monday to Friday, led by Director Mrs Max Peron and a listed team of secretaries pianists teachers and aides across preschool kindergarten first through junior high grades.
