Mr and Mrs Howard Dove entertained a group of friends at a Wednesday dinner party. Guests included Prof and Mrs Ralph Dove Boulder Cole and many others while Kuehn returned from London after learning of Henry Binsel death in Minden. Henry Kusha did not attend the funeral service.

Jewett Grain Co Installs New Scales in Vermont

Jewett Grain and Coal Company completes building new scales to be used soon. State Inspectors will inspect this Saturday. The weighing platform measures 45 feet in length and 10 feet in width, touted as the largest in the region.

Death touches Anite pastor’s family in Iowa loss

Mrs George C Wise wife of the Congregational Church pastor was called away by the sudden death of Mrs Alvis Boyd in Grinnell Iowa on Tuesday afternoon. Mrs Wise cousin Elberta Johns is also involved. Funeral services will be held Thursday. Mrs Wise taught at the church vacation Bible school and handed the work to Mrs Drexel Chadwick to continue.

Town Team Baseball Opens Season on Sunday at Adair

The first town team baseball game of the year will be played on the local diamond Sunday afternoon at Adair with several games already played. Anita will have players bidding for each position, and should field a good club after more practice and games. Rain has broken up several practice sessions but hopes rise for a decent day. Attend if possible.

Lola May Watkins Graduate From Nursing Course

Lola May Watkins completed a three year nursing training course at St. Joseph hospital in Omaha and will proceed to Cook County Illinois for 32 weeks in the surgical department to finish Cadet Nurses training. Mrs Hazel Buckner and daughter Elenore Rash and Mrs Cecil Parker of Des Moines attended Memorial Day dinner. Mrs Kathryn De Camp of Anita spends ten days vacationing in Denver.

Memorial service at temple honors departed members

Monday evening at the temple a memorial observance was held led by Mrs. A er and Mrs. Miller. Officers dressed in white carried a basket of flowers to the altar as the eulogy by Akis, Charles Robison, and Henry Keuhn followed. Members’ names were read and white flowers placed on the altar before rendition of The Old Rugged Cross. Past Chiefs formed a cross as they departed the room, creating a moving tribute.

Miniature Coarge Opens New Course In Anita This Sunday

The revived miniature golf course, built by Kenneth Turner and Jerry Redburn, sits north of Smither Produce. With 18 holes and a par between 55 and 62, it will be lit for evening play, offering very reasonable rates and a nostalgic outing for locals this weekend if weather allows.

Miss Carol Richter Honored At Miscellaneous Shower

Mrs Lester Hamann hosted a large group of ladies in Anita for a miscellaneous shower honoring Miss Carol Richter who will marry soon. The home featured spring flowers and pink and white decorations. A skit was performed and prizes awarded to Mrs Bugsell Eden, Shirley Eden, Naomi Richter, Mrs Archie McCrory, and Miss Richter. Snacks were served.
