Anita High School Alumni Banquet Draws 500 Plus Guests
The Anita high school alumni association held its annual banquet in the auditorium last Friday with alumni from twelve states including Florida California and Massachusetts. Guests of honor were the Class of 1888 and Class 1937 near Supt C W Garlock and association officials. Tables on the main floor featured garden flowers and yellow canort talk. Mrs Early S Holton welcomed guests and led greetings with remarks from several early-time alumni. Awards were given to Miss Dement and William Fiord Jr as outstanding graduate and standing boy. Harold Ziegler of Atlantic was named president for the coming year. Officers chosen included Mrs Mabel Entwistle vice president Walter F Dyer secretary R W Mick Fur y treasurer and Robert C Howers Maurice Turner and Miss Jet Knowlton. The evening included reminiscences from former educators and long-time members and musical numbers by Louise Dittman Dorothy Store Huntley and Miss Jh Alanson. About 287 members attended with 586 total in the association.

Anita high school held a golden anniversary banquet in the new auditorium last Friday with 287 graduates attending. Alumni represented twelve states and many came with spouses. Distances listed include Grace Blood Beaver Great Falls Montana Hazel Trimmer Voorhees Oklahoma City Oklahoma Bertha Rogers Mueller Wiota Florence Pierce Taylor Atlantic and numerous others from Des Moines Ames Kansas City Chicago and beyond.

Miss Lucille M. Johnson and Leo F. Glynn were married at 9 30 Saturday morning in St. Joseph’s Catholic church Wiota with Rev. M J O’Connor officiating. The ceremony was followed by a family dinner at the bride’s home and their move to four miles northeast of Anita. The bride, a 1935 Anita graduate and rural teacher, and the groom, a farmer, are now at home near Anita. Nearby in Corning, Miss Bernice Peters wed Lyle Jensen at 4 PM in the home of Mrs. L J Brown with Rev. William J. Todd officiating. The couple will reside at the Brandon Apartments in Corning. A farewell party for the Hilts family, moving to a Franklin township farm, ended with a lace table cloth gift.

Sarah A. Lynn born September 7, 1854 in Runnells Iowa died about 11:00 Tuesday at daughter Mrs. Fred Heck home from a heart attack. She lived in Cass County fifty three years with Mrs Heck the last twenty. Survived by husband Jerry M. Cramlett two daughters Mrs Maude Swanson Mrs Mary McVay two sisters three grandsons and three great grandchildren. Angeline Lowden aged 65 died at her home in Anita after a four week illness of heart and kidney trouble. Born April 1, 1862 in Belmont County Ohio she married Richard Lowden in Dana Illinois in 1891. Surviving children include Orville Roy Frank Roscoe Richard Velma Esther Lillie and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be at the Church of Christ with Rev D Allen Martin officiating and interment in Evergreen Cemetery.

Missouri men jailed for using slugs as money
William Harman and L. Z. North, Savannah truckers, paid 50 cents to a constable after leaving four 25 cent and two 10 cent slugs in an Anita pay box. Police traced the slugs to Panora calls and the men surrendered $1.70 to avoid prosecution. Slug use is a federal offense with severe penalties.
