Elephant parade visits town with circus show at Chevrolet Garage
Anita recalls a year ago when an elephant from the Fairyland circus visited the Chevrolet Garage for a fee and paraded along Main Street with its owner atop its head. Anita area remembers past events across decades
Funeral services were held for Chris Thompson aged 79. The Anita Vieta community hosted a picnic sponsored by the Anita Chamber of Commerce on August 21 at Recreation Park. Don Taylor and Dean Briggs were to attend a benefit ball game after Briggs suffered a broken leg in a local game a month earlier. Last rites were held for Mrs. Charles Barber, 83, and engagements and weddings were announced among local families including Mary Ellen Watkins and John Pearson. Jack Shannon enlisted after leaving Omaha on leave. The article also notes WPA funded high school athletic field work at Victory Park and other local milestones from decades past.

Cass County Supervisors Appoint, Set Traffic Stop Rules
June 14 1965 Cass County Board of Supervisors met with all members present. They approved cigarette and beer permits for several establishments and reviewed the Cass County Farm report. A resolution redesignated a north side road as through traffic with stop signs on north and south directions and elimination of east west stops. They appointed Travis Martens to the Conservation Commission. The meeting adjourned to July 1 1965.

The Avoca team won the Friday game 24 to 11 over Anita. The contest was error prone with Anita committing about 25 errors and Avoca 18. Anita led until the sixth inning when Avoca scored 11 runs. The prior Saturday night featured a well attended tent show.
