In Elliott on Sunday a public Ku Klux Klan meeting attracted a large crowd in the city park. The report notes the gathering as part of a years old event in the area during July 24 1924.
A clipped item explains grasshopper infestations in alfalfa and red clover and urges farmers to treat fields before hay is cut to prevent hoppers from spreading to other crops. It also notes farm transfers in Guthrie Center and Anita, plus local civic and travel updates from July and earlier local notices.
Residents report visits and trips including a trip to Freese California for two weeks by Anita resident Mrs Ella Entfiela to her brother's family. Mrs L F Ponseht stayed in Eagle Grove with her son Fredrick Peasent. Anita post office worker Kathryn De Camp returned from Denver after a two week stay. Several Anita residents vacationed at Okoboji, with visits by Charles Ranny Kelloway Mark M Don Pollock and Chet Holla. Merle Robison and Warren Floyd noted weekend plans in Council Bluffs and Rea Oak areas.
Mrs. Harry Ankeney of Chicago and four children visited Rev C M Orcutt. Mrs. Bartley of Anita entered Immanuel Lutheran hospital in Omaha for observation after a major operation. A picnic at Kenneth King’s home east of Anita included Corwyn Dorsey and families. Week-end guests at Joe Vetter Jr.'s home included B F Williams and W E Williams of Long Beach and F O Sheffield of Kansas City.
