International stunt driving at Iowa State Fair thrills crowd
Des Moines announces a new three day thrill program at the Iowa State Fair August 23 to September 1. International daredevil teams from the United States and Canada will compete in end over end rolls broad jumps and wall crashes. Three different thrill days will feature unique programs on August 26 28 and 31 with the international stunt contest on August 31.

Lincoln Township News Skating Party Planned July 25
Mrs. Henry J. Paulsen and son Kevin Alan were dismissed from Atlantic hospital Wednesday. The Lincoln Sons of Farmers met with Lyle Laartz Wednesday evening with 18 members and leader Maurice Shannon present. Clair Hern of Atlantic Cass county youth leader was a guest. Plans were made for a skating party July 25 with the Lincoln Lincolnettes as guests. Mrs. Earl Heath and the Lambertsens attended the Clemmensen family reunion at Sunnyside Park Atlantic. MVS of Anita Methodist church held a successful ice cream social in the church basement. Mrs. Mable Denney and daughters took Carole Niles to Portland Ore, leaving Tuesday morning. they plan to visit Carole's parents before returning.

The city council hired S. G. Hunter of Atlantic to construct a steel stand pipe 18 by 40 feet, to be finished by December 1, 1902, at a cost of 1345 dollars. J W Black sold an 80 acre parcel near Stuart for 100 dollars per acre, earning 15 dollars per acre profit. James E Bruce bought Benjamin Wagner's 140 acre farm at 75 dollars per acre. A barn on B F Sisler's northwest farm burned, destroying 225 bushels oats, 125 bushels wheat, and a calf. loss insured. Miss Marguerite Miller returned to Muscatine to resume work at the Musson telephone office.

Fire destroys farm homes near Anita and Lewis
July 31 report notes two farm houses, the W J Tobbins home near Manla and the Ira H Soper ten room farm west of Lewis on Highway 8, were destroyed by fire. Both couples were former Anita residents. Soper was ill and carried to safety during the blaze. Anita Tennis Association completed a tournament with Garlock and Turner winning the doubles final 6-3 6-2.

Scouts Plan Week at Cold Springs Park Camp
Ten years ago in July 1942, more than 29 Boy Scouts planned a weeklong camp at Cold Springs Park near Lewis with Mrs Glen Highley and Mrs Gerald Redburn to accompany and cook one hot meal daily. First class Scouts included Robert Ames Jack Highley and Gene Peterson.
