The Iowa Development Commission cites Farm Journal figures showing 72 of Iowa’s 99 counties have farm families spending at least 1.5 times the national average. In 1948 farm families spent 25 billion dollars retail nationwide, with Iowa counties accounting for many top spenders. Major Iowa counties Polk Woodbury Scott Linn Black Hawk Dubuque and Pottawattamie each posted over 12 million dollars in retail farm buying.
Twenty counties were listed with farm family spending between 8 and 12 million dollars, including Madison Decatur Warren Wayne Marion Appanoose Emmet Worth Howard Fremont Mills Adams Taylor Ringgold Jefferson Van Buren Lee Louisa and Des Moines. Eight counties fall below the U S average in retail farm spending: Osceola Dickinson Union Clarke Lucas Monroe Wapello and Davis.

In Cass County Iowa district court probate case No 6079 the executrix has been appointed and qualified for the estate of Frank E Miller late of Benton County Missouri deceased. Creditors are required to present claims to the executrix for payment.
A legal notice dated July 3 invites all persons with claims against the deceased to present them properly for allowance and payment as required by law. The notice names the executor and specifies filing procedures and deadlines.
