The Church of Christ offers Bible school classes for all ages at 40 a.m.2 with John Pollock as superintendent. Worship service follows with a message titled The Church of the Scriptures. Youth Choir and Christian League meet on Friday the 30th.
Massena area churches announce weekly worship Sunday Masses at St Marys Viota and Holy Cross Lutheran services. The Lutheran Church lists classes, youth groups, and upcoming camp dates July 26 to Aug 7 plus sermon series Possessions as a Trust From God. Sunday school at 10 and worship at 11 with additional prayer meetings and church activities through mid July.
The Congregational Church led by Minister R. K. Berry lists Sunday School at 9:30 and Church Service at 10:. A midweek service and choir practice are scheduled with a Woman's Fellowship event hosted by several members. Trustees meet at 7:30. Community Bible Church under Pastor George A. Brown offers Sunday School at 10:00 and Worship at 11:00.
The text recalls an 1884 Tribune oration at Anita by Lafayette Young and details from the Atlantic Messenger. It notes Butter price at the market, reports on local figures such as Sherman F. Myers and Walter Budd, and mentions post office staff and local editors of the Anita Tribune.
The Anita Tribune recalls Cass County political bids with H. M. Boorman for county attorney and James Green for county auditor among others. It notes Bank of Atlantic difficulties and a 1944 editor Sherman F. Myers, while mentioning past editors and a period when the paper briefly folded in July 1944.
Twenty years ago the Iowa pig crop was to be a quarter smaller. Miss Jane Gotch spent the Fourth at Ledges State Park near Boone. Mr. and Mrs. Cecil Budd marked the holiday with Cecil's aunt and Mr. Bell at Lake Okoboji. Walter I Budd edited the Anlin Tribune.
In July 1904 Dinsmore's Photo Studio advertised photographs that look like you. M. Myers paid $11 000 for an eleven acre fruit farm near Los Angeles to build a mansion. Voorhees sold buggies and Buck's stores. The Rock Island ran three passenger trains each way through Anita. Sherman F. Myers edited the Anita Tribune as the town remembered a golden era from 1885 to 1918 and pondered a coming atomic age.
Thomas C. Winder and grandson Harold returned to Anita after visiting eastern Iowa. Mr and Mrs Bert Beche and their son joined a Beer family picnic in Wiota. Mrs C L Thomas and her two daughters recently visited Wiota. Walter F Bung was editor of the local paper.
Front page photos featured Ase Dale D Lantz and Pvt Howard E Gregersen. Mystery Farm near Anita identified as Fred Claussen's. KnotaKare Club met at Mrs Raymond Lantz home with guests Mrs W T Biggs Mrs Les Eddy and Mrs Bernard Raper Biggs top score. Phil's Super Market sold hamburger for 1 5 cents and Jen Sen's Red and White sold four for a dollar. Margaret and David Ash edited the Anita Tribune.
