High Winds and Rain Damage Across the Area
Two storms last Thursday and Saturday brought strong winds and heavy rain. Trees, limbs, and power lines were damaged, with outages in several neighborhoods. A camper overturned on Interstate 80 injuring two youths. farm buildings and electrical lines sustained notable damage. Rain totals for June reached 4.74 inches at the municipal gauge.

New transformers to double electricity output here
Municipal Utilities chief Herschel McCaskey announced new transformers will be installed at the Light Plant. The units from Osage will raise capacity from 1000 to 2000 kilowatts, with an expected 10 to 15 year lifespan.
