Democrats Name Anita Man For County Recorder

Cass county Democrats held a Saturday convention in Atlantic with about 125 attendees. They nominated C. E. Parker for county recorder and discussed Roosevelt support, county tickets, and delegates to Des Moines conventions. Delegates and officers were elected, and funds were set for convention expenses.

Wiola Girl Norma Eden dies after burn accident

Norma Jean Eden, three, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Eden, died at Jones hospital Atlantic after clothing ignited by a match while playing with sister Marguerite. Survivors include parents, sister, maternal and paternal grandparents. Funeral at Franklin Township Lutheran church with interment in the township cemetery.

The Unita Unit No. 210 American Legion Auxiliary held a Friday meeting at the I O O F hall. A Fidac pageant was shown and officers for 1936 37 were elected: Mrs. George Smither president, Mrs. Harley Miller first vice president, Mrs. P T Williams second vice president, Mrs. John Mehrmann secretary, Mrs. G M DeCamp treasurer, Mrs. Herbert Bartley chaplain, Mrs. W T Biggs historian, Mrs. Joe Kopp sergeant at arms, and Mrs. A B Stone, Mrs. Isabelle Dougherty and Mrs. Floyd Dement on the executive board. Carl Stelling, 64, father of Rev. E J Stelling, died suddenly at his Orchard Neb home after a paralytic stroke. Rev. Stelling, his wife, and sister Miss Lorene Stelling of Atlantic attended the funeral.

Goldie McLaughlin Married Saturday to Casey Man

The marriage of Miss Goldie Mc Laughlin daughter of Mr and Mrs Ed N McLaughlin of Anita and Harold W Griffith son of Mrs Anna Griffith of Casey was solemnized at 8 30 PM Saturday in the Methodist church with Rev D B S Prather officiating. The couple were attended by Miss Marjorie McLaughlin and Claire Walker. The bride wore a pink chiffon dress with matching jacket and pink hat, carried pink roses and baby breath. The groom wore a dark suit. The bride, a former Anita teacher, will live in Casey where Mr Griffith works at an elevator. Community best wishes were given to the couple. Frank R Mitchell wife and son Donny Paul depart Anita for a six week motor trip to Bellingham Wash to visit relatives. his rural mail routes will be covered by Paul Henderson in his absence.
