Local notices and farm shipments mingle in Cedar Rapids week
Chas Hook of Cedar Rapids reports another car of live poultry shipped through Anita Produce head called here by the death of his father in New York City. Walter Hook accompanied the shipment with D R Donahoe and Mrs B W Chase enjoyed a visit from Miss Mattie Butler, a Coon Rapids teacher. Isaac Brown and J B Smith shipped two carloads of cattle to Omaha via Farmers Co op, Isaac Brown Jr and Clyde Smith with them. An oversized hen near Tama measured nine inches around the tongue and twelve inches long. cold weather hit the area with a 38.2 degree below zero reading Saturday morning. Oscar Toatlebe of Cedar Falls notes 43 years of farming, reporting last year earnings around $600,000 in items handled for Bongers drug store renovation adding a soda fountain.
