Born November 27 1876 Atchison Kansas she died Friday January 3 at Cass County Memorial Hospital after hip fracture She lived in Crestwood Nursing Home two years moved to Iowa at age six most of life in Logan area Surviving daughter Mrs H C Fitch of Missouri Valley seven grandchildren and many great grandchildren She was preceded by her parents husbands two daughters and several siblings.

He married Eva Brown in 1910 and is survived by two daughters six grandchildren seven great grandchildren a brother and many nieces and nephews.

Tragic Ice Hole Accident at Lake Anita Park
Eight year old girl from Dexter fell through a thawing ice hole at Lake Anita State Park. Her brother Kenneth Larsen pulled her out and rushed her home for a warm bath and dry clothes. Park Officer Larry Van Horn warned that the ice was thick but the large cut hole was dangerous and waters hadn’t frozen over to bear weight. About two dozen ice houses were on the lake with poor fishing conditions reported.

Registration for all adult education classes will be held Thursday evening at 7 30 in the high school gym. Classes run ten weeks with weekly meetings. Fee is 50 cents per hour or 10 dollars for 20 hours. Eight classes offered including ballroom dancing tennis ice fishing upholstering knit sewing macrame typing and welding.

Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Anita Bible Baptist Church for Nolan H Stockham 65 born January 19 1910 in Missouri who died suddenly January 4 at a Des Moines family gathering. Pastor William Hartley officiated with organ music by Mrs Dwight Bower. Interment at Anita Evergreen Cemetery. He married Patricia Porch on April 3 1937 and lived in the Lincoln Township area. Survived by wife Patty a son Kent Stockham of Leon a daughter Kathy Stockham of Omaha a brother William F Stockham of Anita a sister Ethel McCartney of Des Moines three grandchildren Robin Teresa and Matthew Stockham and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a former 4 H club teacher and Anita Lions Club member. He attended North Massena Baptist Church before its merger and served as Sunday School teacher and church trustee.
