The Anita Lions Club fundraiser for Ruth Peron, a 16 year old Anita High junior, raised 475 for her national tour with the United States of America Band and Chorus. Alumni and varsity teams from Anita played two games at Wio ta gym, generating receipts around 479.21 with more donations pending as the drive continued.

Hospital notes and a driverless car incident on Main Street
Mrs Eva Carns and Nancy Coglon were discharged from Atlantic Memorial Hospital after brief observations. Dale Dressler, a Lincoln township farmer, was hospitalized for tests but discharged the same week. A 1963 Oldsmobile owned by Harvey Fletcher rolled from a curb near Gamble's store, struck the stop sign and damaged Gary Christensen's 1962 Torch by about $300. Fletcher witnessed the incident as bystanders urged the unmanned car to stop.

Funeral services for Henry J. Spies 77 were held Wednesday at St Marys Catholic church in Anita. He died Sunday at Atlantic Memorial Hospital after a morning surgery. Survived by wife Florence Anstey Spies and a large extended family.

Northern Natural plans to extend gas service to Anita in 1966
Northern Natural Gas Company filed with the Federal Power Commission to extend natural gas service to 127 communities in Iowa Minnesota Wisconsin and Nebraska. The plan calls for 800 miles of branch pipeline 27 miles of main line and 6 300 compressor capacity lifting daily gas capacity by 48 million cubic feet at an estimated cost of about 20 million dollars. Iowa communities include Anita and others with designated local distributors. A separate note reports a brief power outage in Anita from a transformer fuse incident affecting the theatre and nearby utilities Friday night. The Anita Theatre Corp will hold its annual meeting Monday January 11 with proxy votes encouraged. Bill Darrow will speak at North Massena Baptist Church Sunday morning.
