Longtime Anita resident Fi Stone dies after auto crash
Fi Stone a long time resident of Anita in Lincoln township died Sunday morning from injuries suffered when an auto struck him near the Anita Bank on Main Street Saturday evening. Edward Bell drove the other car. Stone was eastbound and struck as Bell turned north. Stone, born October 16 1850 in St. Lawrence county New York, lived in Anita since 1887. He was a farmer, director of Walnut Grove Co. and a member of several fraternal and religious organizations. Obituaries noted his liberal church support and family survivors in Anita including sisters Matilda and Aldula and nephews and nieces. Funeral services were held at the Congregational church with Masonic honors. interment at Evergreen Cemetery.

Rare disease Malta fever found in Iowa
Matta fever, a rare disease, has appeared in Iowa with the first confirmed case in Northwood. H. C. Stendel, a buttermaker, likely contracted it from milk from cows with abortion.
