Cass county Schoolmasters' Association announces pairings for the Cass County Courtly Basketball Tournament to be held at Atlantic High School gym from Wednesday through Saturday July 25 26 28 Anita and Viota feature in girls and boys brackets with byes and early matchups including Wiota Griswold and Atlantic B Cumberland Massena. Final games set for Saturday at 7 pm with officers Glen Hornbuckle and Merle Deskin leading the association.

January 17 Set for Home Declam Contest
The annual home declam contest is scheduled for January 17 with preliminaries on January 28. The host school is not named. Father of Mildred Theulen Passes Away
Joe Munt age 70 father of Mrs Mildred Theulen of Anita Beauty Shop died Thursday morning December 29 in California. He was hospitalized in Brawley after traveling with his wife and daughter Dorce in El Centro. Survived by wife four daughters and ten grandchildren. Funeral services held Monday at Favora with interment there.

Four Injured Over Weekend in Falls on Ice
Over the weekend four persons suffered injuries from falls on ice. Rich Maas tore ligaments in his right leg on a sidewalk near Corner Inn Saturday night and ambulatory with difficulty. Nettie Steinmetz fractured her left hip at home Saturday evening and was transported to Adair County Hospital before being moved to Letheran Hospital and slated for surgery. Clair Gill broke a small bone in his left leg Sunday evening and is using crutches after a Wednesday morning leg placement. Shorty Christensen fell Saturday evening, fractured his right fez, admitted to Atlantic Memorial Hospital and to University Hospital Iowa City for surgery. Harold Sims of Maryville and Edith Eckhoff of Omaha vacationed with Boyd Sims. Edith returned to teaching, Harold resumed studies. Sharon Gissible of SUI spent holidays with her parents Melvin and Mrs Gissible.

The Science Club of Anita High School and the Alumni Association met at the Redwood on December 26 with 35 members and sponsor Dan Sullivan and his wife.
