First aid courses sign 78 in Cass County

Hearing Set on New School District January 9

Objections to proposed Highway 92 district boundaries will be heard at a joint Cass and Adair county school board meeting at the Core House in Atlantic on January 9 at 7 45 p.m. Those wishing to file objections must submit to the Cass county superintendent before noon that day. The proposed district would include 13 Cass county districts and parts of Edna township, with initial enrollment around 650 students and assessed valuation about 6.28 million dollars.

Cass Extension Head Harry Codlin Resigns After 23 Years

Harry Codlin resigns as Cass extension director after twenty three years with the County Agricultural Extension Service tied to Iowa State College and the U S Department of Agriculture. He will join the U S government mission in Indo China and report to Washington for orientation before departure. Mrs Codlin will join him later. He has served as president of the Iowa County Agents Association and led the Iowa Chapter of Epsilon Sigma Phi.

John Rasmussen becomes president of the Anita Chamber of Commerce for 1957 with Roy Sims as vice president. Daughter of former Anita teacher on Rose Bowl float

Anne Cooper of Cedar Rapids appears on the Rose Bowl parade float New York Town. She is the daughter of a former Anita schoolteacher, Esther Thon, who led the primary grades from 1931 to 1933. Anne shared an apartment with two teachers, Mrs Raymond Lantz and Mrs George Miller, both from the Avita community. The Cooper parents reside in Cedar Rapids.
