Winter pause in city water project as mains already laid will be covered. Hydrants to be installed this week, but pumping to mains from the new plant is not expected before March, weather permitting. Household use waits on pump and tanks at the new wells.
Dr. W. F. Porterfield of Waterloo visited the city to discuss starting a new hospital. Plan calls for converting the Porterfield residence at Loguatwang Ninth Street into a modern hospital. Supporters see an ideal location and anticipate a prompt return to advance details.
Fire destroyed the Ruggles garage owned by H. W. Budd around 5 30 a m and sparked a blaze that also touched the east side of the Unique theatre. The structure was uninsured on most stock while Budd held limited insurance and the fire is blamed on a defective flue.
Clyde H. Bower, a corner druggist, paid his Tribune subscription for a year. L. W. Stone of Reeds Spring Missouri sent a letter with dues and reports that the old world treats him kindly. He notes fine weather with no frost in the ground as of December 27.
Miss Hazel Erickson daughter of Mr and Mrs A P Erickson wed Ivan Vetterick son of Mr and Mrs I Vetterick at the bride parents home near Massena. The ceremony was conducted by Rev D I Hower of Massena Methodist church with about 150 guests. The couple, both Massena High School graduates, will reside on a farm south of town.
A pair of burglars stole about sixty chickens from J. W. Fisher’s poultry house eight miles southeast of town on Christmas morning. They first visited at four o’clock, fled when startled, and returned about forty minutes later taking the birds. Miss Fisher feared for her father’s safety if he went out. The thieves likely knew there were no guns on the premises. The act is a state prison offense, yet the culprits seem unafraid.
The Income Tax Law has been printed as a Government document and the Treasury Department regulations with reference thereto are issued from time to time. Judge Green will send these publications to anyone applying to him by letter or postal. Holmes' HARD COAL advertisement invites ongoing use and trust in the brand.
Notice urges all indebted to Dr. H. E. Campbell to call and settle accounts before the new year. The editor thanks patrons and wishes a happy prosperous year. Also reports Albert Berger visiting from Lohrville, Virgel A. Stuart visiting Portland en route to Chadron, and the marriage of Jesse Stauffer to Leota Simpson in Ignacio Colorado with future residence there.
In Audubon district court today O O Conley sues R C Spencer over a contract to swap the Audubon Advocate plant for Perkins County Nebraska land. Spencer alleges fraud and land misrepresentation. witnesses include J L Winne. The plant passed through multiple hands before ending with this paper. The case was dismissed without prejudice and will be refiled as a law action.

Miss Lulu Smith and Mrs Agness Griffin arrived in town to spend New Year with H E Boatright and family and Walter Clark. Mrs J R Stuhr and son from Tabor visited here with H E Boatright before departing to Stuart to visit G W Boatright. Methodist Church members honored organist Miss Louisa Dittman with a glass water set and beaded hand bag as a Christmas gift.
Deputy County Treasurer C F Worthing fell ill at the courthouse this morning at 10 30 o clock while ascending stairs. He was found partially unconscious and moved to his office under care of a doctor and trained nurses. The doctor cited a fainting spell caused by a shock from medicine taken last night and adhesions from chronic appendicitis. He was later moved to his home on Locust street and is reported improving.
Dr Wyle Harrison of Guthrie Center attended a Christmas Day meal at his mother's home and savored an excellent family dinner.
The Anita Public Library lists titles including A Sword of the Old Frontier and Sevenoaks with authors Parr ish Winston Bindloss Parker Wallace Lockhart Ford Chambers Carter Johnson Seton and others. Library hours are 2 to 3 PM and 7 to 9 PM on Mondays Wednesdays and Saturdays.
