Cass Applies For $13,000 in County Fund Transfers
Cass county requests a temporary transfer of $12,000 from general funds to the courthouse fund and a permanent transfer of $1,000 from maintenance to courthouse funds. County auditor Jinnie M. Ward announced the actions, with verbal approval from state comptroller CG. B. Murtagh. The $12,000 transfer, repayable in sixty days, funds courthouse bills until the remaining federal PWA grant is received. The maintenance transfer pays for salvaged steel I beams and sheets used in county bridge work.

The Iowa senate committee recommended Malone be seated in the Cass Shelby race. By unanimous vote, the Senate declared C E Malone of Atlantic the legally elected senator from Cass Shelby district. Pelzer’s lawyers argued Malone held two offices, but the committee found he did not. Final tally: Malone 7,827 to Pelzer 7,487 with Shelby absentee ballots counted.
