Farm officer chased by cow on Highway 141
Staff Sergeant Al Cowan of Scottsfield Illinois met a cow on Highway 141 between Creston and Osceola while en route to visit his wife and family at H. J. Spies home. Cowan and the cow were uninjured. The cow’s owner was contacted and Carl Benson arrived with Cowan in Anita early Friday. No damage estimate given. Cowan received an extended five day leave.

Funeral services were held for Lafe E. Simpson 69 at Extra Federated church following a Wednesday stroke. William Harold Champion 70 of Menlo died Sunday night at 8 15 in Des Moines Still hospital after a lingering illness. Born February 25 1880 in Mattoon Illinois he lived in Anita before moving to a farm near Menlo where the family has resided eighteen years.
