Fire Prevention Program in Anita Friday Evening

Under the Anita Fire Department, G. K. Hawthorne will lecture and demonstrate fire prevention in homes and schools and first aid at the Rialto Theatre Friday at 7 30. He has spoken to 1500 Nebraska schools, will show two full size moving pictures about fires and safety, and the event is free to the public funded by the local department.

Clerk of Court Cecil M. Skipton reports a flurry of licenses in Cass county with no fewer than twelve issued recently. Pioneer of Wiota Community Dies

Anna Christina Herchenbach 84 a longtime Wiota resident and Germany native died Sunday afternoon at her home after a long illness. She came to the United States at age nine, settled near Minonic Illinois, moved to Cass County in 1878, and to Wiota in 1909. Surviving are five children, thirteen grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren. Funeral at St Josephs Wiota with Rev M J O Connor officiating. Burial in Wiota Catholic cemetery.

Plan to Refinance Primary Road Bonds Proposal

State Senator Charles D. Booth introduces a senate bill to remove limits on primary road funds used for paying principal and interest on bonds issued to refund primary road bonds. The plan directs the highway commission to craft a financing strategy for county primary road indebtedness and to issue refunding bonds to stabilize annual interest and principal payments between six and nine million dollars. The commission will inform county boards of supervisors about required refunding actions under the plan.
