Cedar Falls reports fifty new homes at $4,000 each, and new city projects include a $60,000 bank and a $16,000 business block. Poultry and corn exhibit plans in Boone feature speakers from Owatonna and Iowa State College. Reports cover smallpox quarantine in Fairfield, land deals in Union county, and a proposed Cedar Rapids theatre.
Des Moines reports financing of a new Omaha & Iowa railroad via Atlantic to Des Moines with $5,000,000 in bonds. Leslie M. Shaw confirms that F. M. Hubbell will chair the board and push the project toward Des Moines and Manning, linking to the Atlantic Northern & Southern and a broader rail network toward Canada.
E R Walizer 28 was arrested by Detectives Jackson and Pettit for grand larceny filed by his father in law Dan Rare don. He allegedly stole 1000 dollars in gold from a hiding place in the father in law's cellar. Since the theft he has not worked as a house painter but paid bills and bought clothes.
Edward C. Chambers a noted bridge contractor in northern Iowa and southern Minnesota died when his car slid off a high bank and rolled over. He was 68, survived by his widow and a daughter Mrs. S G Fouse of Lisbon Iowa. His estate is described as very large.
In Cedar Rapids on December 5 seventeen regimental and staff officers plus thirty six company officers gather for a two day school of instruction. A reception and smoker for the visitors will be held tonight with remarks by Representative Ernest Moore and others.
