Sharp Increase in Hog Prices Forecast at Ames
Iowa State college economists forecast a sharp rise in hog prices after the fall run, citing strong consumer demand and bullish packer storage attitudes. They noted hog receipts this fall are the largest in two years, with Chicago weekly receipts nearly double last year yet prices holding steadier. A slight seasonal dip before the turn up is possible, with weather and corn trends potentially aiding the hog-corn feeding ratio.
