Fifteen Anita high school students make the Prin C M Salman honor roll for the second six weeks. Seniors include Jerry Budd Naomi Jensen Rosemary Pearson Arthur Whee Jack and Wanda Wilson. Weimer Pearson sold his tavern to Albert Claussen and will transfer possession this Saturday. Claussen, long-time resident, recently sold his farm equipment and plans to run the business here with his wife and two daughters and one son. The Spies house in East Main will host the Claussens on moving day. Home Furnishings advances a new addition in Netaber, nearing completion and set for use after year’s start. A brick annex on the building’s west side expands the furniture display area to 4x055 feet, one story.
An Austa Ground Observers' Cerys meeting is scheduled for next Monday at 7 30 pm at Le Legion Hall. Residents are urged to attend to discuss civil defense programs and area readiness. A 1983 Anita High School graduate, he previously worked for West Town Telephone Co before enlisting in December 1954.
More than 1,000 signatures were attached to petitions circulated in the Extra community school district. The petitions, filed Wednesday with County Superintendent Noble J. Gividen, seek reorganization and set the stage for county board hearings with notices detailing boundaries and dates to be issued this week.

Funeral services held at Lutheran church Faxira and burial at Exyira Cemetery for Mrs. Chris Anderson 65. Born Audubon county daughter of Peter Lund and the late Mrs. Lund. Married to Chris Anderson 46 years. They farmed near Audubon then northwest of Anita. Survived by husband two daughters Hertha Anderson and Mrs Andrew Jessen, a son Ness, nine grandchildren, one great grandson, a sister and several half siblings. Rev F G Barnes and wife spent Thanksgiving with relatives in Council Bluffs.
Mrs. Eddy hosted 14 wives of visiting Masons at the Stork House with a social evening at her home. Obediend Tadge led retention, with Harvey Schall chairing General Arrangements and Lyle Schall coordinating reception. Twhal Masonite officers included Harry Denney as Master and Myron Harris as Junior Warden, with a slate of stewards and trustees named.
Anita C of C announces a $1000 Christmas program with a $200 jackpot prize and a drawing on December 24 at 3 40. The first ten names are in the running, with ten more added each Saturday before Christmas. Prize notes include a deep freeze TV set and other merchandise worth about $200, plus three drawing specials and Santa appearances.
Urgent call from Mrs Bernard Raper, chairman of the blood drive, for volunteers in Willam is town. About two people have signed to donate when the bloodmobile arrives a week from tomorrow. A Wednesday afternoon drawing at Anita Bad Shell distributed over 150 dollars in merchandise to 40 local families. Donors include Cement Realty Company, Anita Theatre, Waters, Haszard Oil, and many other area businesses and individuals. Community members listed among recipients.
The Anite Tribune New Subscriptions Contest ended Saturday afternoon with Vox Watt Glynn leading, selling seven new subscriptions at seven minutes, to win first prize of $50 for the Tribune office. Grant club earned $25 second prize as several groups vied for lead. Tara Barbara Reed and Chor Reed helped Lincoln Tea candidate secure a late rally, with new subs reported in the afternoon window and at the Tribune office by 5 p.m.
Anita high school hosts a home doubleheader next Tuesday at 7 15 pm. The Spartans greet Griswold and Avoca as they return to their floor after a month on the road. Coach Pry pushes a fast, entertaining style while fans pack the Anita gym to support the hometown team.
