Sixty years ago Anita merchants Cater and Irman advertised watches and jewelry at hard times prices. EB Newton of Massena visited Anita Sunday. D E Dills bought vacant lots north of Worthing’s pond to build a residence for his son George. Cass County Fair announced a ballloon ascent by Miss Tillie Hazel aged twenty one on September 12 with a parachute jump from a fearful height. The item recalls the “leap for life” memory. Farmers Supply Co pursued sheet metal work while the Cooper Hat Shop advertised the Latin hat as the correct millinery choice. Des Moines trips featured H. H. 30 Years Ago Baby Girl Born to Mr and Mrs John Son

30 years ago Mr and Mrs Harry Red John Son announced the birth of a baby girl. Raymond Lantz joined Roe and Koht Grocery as W T Slater prepared to depart for California. Miss Ida Biggs returned to work in Des Moines after a brief absence.

Cemetery work requires removing all shrubs and flowers in August

Due to cemetery expansion and new equipment, all shrubs and flowers must be removed. Fat owners should arrange with Tom Miller, Sexton, to take their peonies this August. Peonies left after September 1, 1953 will be removed by the Cemetery Association. Anyone stealing flowers or shrubs will be dealt with.

Movie stars set to appear at the Elia lto Theater in The Little Giant

Twenty years ago Edward G Robinson and Meg Astor were to star in the comedy The Little Giant at the Rialto Theater. Glen A Roe was elected president and A R Robinson became secretary of the local Ni organization.
