Mrs. Charles Thomas, 1, of Anita, died Saturday night at Bothwell Hospital Sedalia Mo after a three week illness Funeral services are set for Thursday at 2 pm at Longs Funeral Home with Rev W N Hawn presiding Casketbearers include Bill Schaake Jess Deeming Wilbur Jemmings Robert Wilson Merle Robison and Harry Duirk Burial follows at Evergreen Cemetery She was born January 15 in Adair County daughter of the late John J and Delia Campbell Stinman and lived in Adair Cass counties before moving to Anita in 1900 She later lived in Kansas City and Sedalia She is survived by two sons Rufus A Thomas of Sedalia and Don L Thomas of Kansas City a daughter Mrs Lorena Cannon of Menlo two brothers Blaine Stinman of Fontanelle and Loren Stinman of Orient two sisters Mrs Lilian Stihman of Fontanelle and Mrs Hattie Ewing of Kansas City Mo plus five grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren The Pilgrim Fellowship of Anita Congregational church held a picnic and swimming at Sunnyside Park Monday afternoon with Rev and Mrs Lester Gatch present.

Miss Miller to Be Nursing Graduate at Marsh

Norma Ann Miller will join 12 other graduates from the Evangelical Hospital School of Nursing at Marsh in a Sunday evening ceremony on August 7. The 8 p.m. exercises at the First Methodist Church will feature remarks by Rev. Frank C. Kroll and Dr. Earl L. Nevser. Miller, daughter of Mr and Mrs George Miller of Anita, will sit for Iowa board examinations September 20 and 30 to qualify as a Registered Nurse.

Booster Club Meeting Schedule At Local Elementary School

Anita Town Halts Street Repairs Plan With Henningsen

Anita town council signs contract with Henningsen of Atlantic to repair streets this month and finish by Sept 1. Estimated one to two days work by Henningsen crews, cost 3200 dollars plus use of outside equipment. Council also approves an auxiliary fire pump purchase and hires Wetherall and Harrison of Des Moines as architects for a new town hall and library project with a six percent fee.

Cadet Bo Martin 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Lovee of Cumberland, completed ROTC summer camp at Fort Gordon July 29, gaining practical training for a second lieutenant. He is a 1957 Cumberland High School graduate and Iowa State University student, known as James to Anita residents.

Tuesday’s Anita High girls beat a ladies all star team 24 to 21, aiding Don Taylor of AHS class of 1960 who is hospitalized after a car crash.

Inhofe, 39, Dies at Veterans Hospital Omaha

Lorence Inhofe died Saturday night at 11:30 at Veterans Hospital in Omaha after two months as a patient. He had battled multiple sclerosis and used a wheelchair. Born near Anita in November 1920, he served in World War II with the CSS armed forces. He married Virginia Curtis on August 5, 1950, at Hiawatha Kansas, and the couple lived in Anita. Survived by wife, daughter Shareny, sons Ledley and Mien, parents, and a brother Donald of Atlantic. Funeral services held Tuesday at Anita Congregational Church with Reverend Lantz officiating. Interment Evergreen Cemetery.
