Volunteers are urged to help on Friday August 3 for another canning session to keep school lunch prices at 30 cents. Superintendent W. W. Congregational Women Ship 420 Pounds to Flood Victims
Members of the Congregational Church Women's Fellowship packed 15 boxes of clothing shoes bedding and curtains totaling 420 pounds and shipped them to Kansas City flood victims. No further shipment days are planned but donations of similar items are welcome and will be sent.

Clarence Foster Dies in Wiota at 64
Clarence G. Foster, 64, of Wiota, died Monday night at Atlantic Memorial hospital after several months of ill health. Born June 21, 1887 in Wiota, he served in World War I, married Anna Herchenbach in 1920, and belonged to St. Joseph's Catholic Church. Surviving: widow, two daughters, three sisters, one brother, and five grandchildren. Funeral today at 9 A.M. at St. Joseph's in Wiota.

County Tournament Finals Sunday at Cass County Diamond

Big Field at Anita Speedway Expected Sunday
The Anita Speedway anticipates its largest driver field yet as stock car racing returns next Sunday. Cleo Burmeister won the feature last Sunday with Bill Hagen second and Tom Sloboth third after a 14 lap run on a flat tire. Bob Ward won the trophy dash last week and faced a severe roll in the feature. Bill Hagen, driving Benson's No. 84, placed third in a Des Moines heat, first in the Trophy Dash and second in the feature at Kessell Speedway.

Vet Practice Change In Anita Iowa Sees Weimer Exit
Dr E D Weimer sells his stake in the Weimer and Osen veterinary practice to Dr James Osen after 35 years as a veterin arian. Weimer arrived in Anita in 1984 and plans for travel while Osen continues the clinic with help from Gene Petersen returning from ROTC camp before school starts.

Plans are underway for Progress on Parade a pageant written by Mrs Alfred Jensen to be held Thursday August 16 on Community Day at 8:00 P.M. at Atlantic High School Football Field. Anita Society Horse Show Draws 2000 Fans
The Anita Society and Anita Saddle Club hosted a Sunday horse show with about 2,000 attendees enjoying ideal weather. Organized seating and smooth classes led to a timely show. numerous riders from Altoona, Creston, Carroll, Corning, Sac City and other towns competed across pony, harness, saddle and harness divisions with many winners named for each class.
