Anita Public High School senior class presents the mystery comedy BLACK MAGIC in the high school auditorium on April 28 1950. A traveling ghost and a mining canyon setting drive thrills humor and romance as the story of seeking gold unfolds with clever tricks and a laugh at fear.
The Anita High School paper The Tattler was named one of 18 state winners in the High School Press Project by the Iowa Tuberculosis and Health Association. Nine state winners advanced to national competition. five other town papers earned certificates of honor.

More than 100 members and guests attended the Cass National Farm Loan Association stockholders meeting in Atlantic. Raymond Sayre of Omaha urged farmers to tighten operating costs to maintain a good living standard amid steady prices and high expenses. Frank Grulke of Atlantic and Geo Sease of Massena were reelected to three year terms on the board. Alvin Lehmkuhl presided as meeting chair. Women served lunch at noon with accordion music and a magic show by pastor Tom Fuhr adding local entertainment.

Union Good Friday services will be held at the Congregational church at Anita at 8:00 p.m. Friday evening. The ministers of the Christian Methodist and Congregational churches will have charge of the service. Special music will accompany the service.
Ex-gangster Phil Ward once of Detroit and Toledo will host a series of nightly meetings at the Lincoln Center Community Building south of Anita from April 10 to 20 at 8 p.m. The April 14 session features his life story and testimony with special music by Mrs. Ward, an accordionist, soloist, and pianist.
Harry Swartz reports Anita residents donated 327.80 to the Red Cross drive over the past two weeks. The town quota was 205, and the goal was reached and exceeded by 122.80 as all canvassers completed their work.
The second annual farmer merchant get together will be held tonight Thursday April 6. The Greater Anita club sponsors the event and expects a good turnout inviting all farmers and land owners. A two hour program is planned with Mel Hansen of W. C. W as featured speaker. Meeting starts at 7 30 p m and free lunch will be served.
Elba Huddleson of Anita bought a Rose Hill Ave lot from Victor Claussen after selling his West Main Street residence to Andrew Dennison. Excavation for the basement started last week and a new house will be erected north of the Wm. Bangham property.
Miss Jessie M. Parker, state superintendent of public instruction, will address Cass County parents teachers and officials at 8 p.m. in the Atlantic Court House assembly room on Wednesday April 12. The meeting, sponsored by the Cass County Farm Bureau women's committee, aims to explain the controversial proposed school reorganization plan in clear terms and answer questions.
The local board of education re elected the present staff with the exception of Mrs Littell and Miss Scott who resigned effective year end. Resignations of Tom Miller the custodian were accepted. Two buses were purchased for student transportation, a 42 passenger Chevrolet and a 36 passenger Ford.
Ten Anita high school students competed in Greenfield Iowa for a two day prelim event. Five firsts were earned Rita Smith Donna Brownfield James King Betty Gittens and Dean Karns will advance to the Creston State contest April 23. Others earned seconds or thirds including DeEtta Brownfield Doris Kline and Bill Orcutt.
Membership at the Methodist church rose significantly with twenty six new members received in Anita and five at Wiota on Sunday March 26. Names include Charles Borth Arthur Duff Robert Duff Bert Johnson Ellea Huddle son Robert Mackrill sr Emory Oler Marvin Scholl Harry Swartz Harvey Fletcher Janece Eddy Robert Mackrill Jr Lucille Cron Jean Cron Mabel Cron Callie Steele Arthur Boysen Stanley Wood Irma Wood Tommy Wood and recovering patient Anderson Bell.
Mrs. P. R. Petersen and Mrs. Anna Erlandson led Iowa participants home after a two week tour of the southland and Cuba. The 200 member group visited Oklahoma, Texas, and Louisiana, with stops at Cargill Ranch, Oklahoma Capitol, Tinker Air Base, University of Oklahoma, Fort Worth, Dallas, Houston, and New Orleans before returning by train. Petersen promises a forthcoming complete report in the Tribune.
