The Ladies Golf Association will host a Dutch Treat dinner on Monday April 9 at the Redwood. Plans for the coming year will be discussed and reservations should be made with Mrs Jo Barnes or Mrs Shirley Killever by noon Saturday.
Hansen of Atlantic has joined Cement Realty in Atlantic after two years with ASC Office. His wife Jane works at Whittey Bank. The Hansens moved to the Fuby Scholl property on west Main. Elmer Jensen became a two gallon donor at the Red Cross Bloodbank when the bloodmobile stopped here Friday March 23. Her name was not listed last week in the News story.
Nine Iowa businessmen including Francis E. Holland of Mason City join the CIRAS Advisory Council as Waldo Wegner announces. Holland is vice president of Wallace, Holland, Kastler and Co. He joined the firm in 1952 and has led engineering groups in Iowa. He is son of Carl Holland of Anita and a 1940 graduate of AHS and Iowa State University. CIRAS is headquartered at Iowa State University in Ames.
Centennial planning session at city hall drew 25 from clubs churches and groups as a permanent executive board forms for 1975 events. Civil Air Patrol reports 1972 humanitarian work with 279 CAP hours in Iowa and flights from Anita Airport aiding floods and hurricanes.
Sunday morning a church service listed ushers Lyle Scholl and Edvard Jorgensen with greeters Mrs Scholl and Mrs Jorgensen. Candlelighters were Kelly and Yertie Smith marking a traditional ceremony.
Multiple birth announcements from Des Moines Adair Anita and Stuart list newborns Suzanne Marie Klemish and Jason Henry Alff with their parents and grandparents. Also new Crestwood residents Eddie Patera and Jessie Kemp, plus upcoming church events and a Vir ginia Tirun Ted Sweeney engagement with a May 26 wedding planned in Hopkins Missouri.
Markus Peter Mikkelsen 11 of Atlantic died after a head on crash at 3 55 p m in front of the Grand Motel on Highway 83 in Anita. Driver Charles Gundy 24 of Oakland and passenger Robert Penton 27 of Anita were injured as both cars were totaled. Gundy faces charges as the investigation by State Trooper Steve Gilman pointed to Gundy in the wrong lane. Mikkelsen, a rural route carrier for the Atlantic News Telegraph, died at Cass County Memorial Hospital from a crushed chest and internal injuries. Funeral services set at Roland Funeral Home Atlantic.
Released from hospital Mrs. Barbara Harris returns to Sever Nursing Home while Mrs. Tara Chefina recuperates at home. Carsten Henneberg leaves Cass County Memorial Hospital. James Dorsey nuptials planned as Debra Ann Jones engages Leslie Richard Dorsey of Anita. Debra an LPN at Jennie Edmundson Hospital. Leslie attends Iowa Western Community College. A May wedding is planned.
Charles Borth Holton Anita man underwent surgery at Cass County Memorial Hospital last week and is progressing. Howard Coglon had surgery at Omaha's Nebraska Methodist Hospital and is recovering. Barbara Jessen had a tonsillectomy at Cass County Memorial Hospital and was discharged. Gerald Shellmaker transferred to University of Iowa Hospital. Ray Cannon of Wiota admitted for back ailment. Mrs Mont Laman being cared for in Washington Iowa. Tammy Duff.
Tammy Duff almost two years old swallowed a quarter while playing. Doctors observed her, then removed the coin the next day at Cass County Memorial Hospital. The incident prompted framing the coin as a reminder.
