Mrs Glenn Phillips Buys White Front Cafe
After 20 years a new face will be seen behind the counter at the White Front Cafe as Mrs. Glenn Phillips buys the cafe and adjoining dwelling from Ted and Ella Walker. The Phillips plan to remain on highway 90 west of Anita and continue cafe operations with daughter Lillian Wilson, while Ted and Ella retire due to health.

Rites Held for Mrs Ella Gard
Funeral services were held Saturday at Reland funeral home for Mrs Ella Gard wife of Wesley Gard and mother of several children. The Rev Robert A McBlain officiated with organist Meredith Walker in attendance. Burial followed at Atlantic cemetery. Mrs Gard born February 5 1883 in Omaha was married June 21 1908 and moved from Nebraska to Iowa in 1931 after living in Nebraska. She passed away Thursday morning at Atlantic Memorial Hospital after a long illness. She left four sons and four daughters and many grandchildren. her husband and a large family mourn her.

Three-Car Crash Leaves Minor Injuries on Chestnut Street
Saturday morning three vehicles collided on Chestnut Street in front of the Earl Heath residence. Ray Schellenberg and Fred Wilson were north and south bound respectively and struck a parked Olds owned by Randy Heath. Mrs Schellenberg was kept overnight for observation with knee and dash injuries. Wilson sustained a minor concussion and a broken steering wheel. Damages ranged around the Heath car at 150 dollars. The incident interrupted a parent teacher conference and involved extensive repairs to the Schellenberg Plymouth and Wilson Chevrolet.

1400 Attend Quarter Horse Sale Here Sunday
The Western dua Quarter Horse Assoc held a catalogue sale at Anita Auction Co sale barn drawing about 1,400 breeders and buyers. Forty horses were offered, with top bid at 2350 for a stud horse. Buyers came from several states including New York. Gail Nelson of Atlantic and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Asberry of Extra owned horses locally.
