Mr. and Mrs. William J. Wagner longtime residents of Atlantic celebrate their Golden Wedding Anniversary with an open house on Tuesday April 4 at their home in Atlantic. Friends and family attended as the couple recalled fifty years of marriage.

Wagner and Miss Rowland wed in Anita marriage details

The wedding of Miss Bade Rowland to William Wagner took place April 6 1898 at her mother's home north of Adair and was followed by open house. The couple later lived in Danby Iowa Bridgewater and Anita where Wagner ran a blacksmith shop and later an oil and garage business. They have four daughters and six sons with one son Wayne who died in 1938. both are longtime Congregational church members and active in community affairs.

Mrs. Gilbert Wehrman of Anita is named chairman of the Red Cross drive in Grant township. Weather and road conditions delayed the drive. Aide Layvland and Mr Warriss of Atta wed on Easter Sunday at 4:00 PM in the home of Mrs Lester Anderson. Rev. J B Wright of Federated Church officiated in a double ring ceremony. Bride wore beige tweed with yellow roses, attendant wore black, best man was Byron Harris. Couple to Des Moines trip then reside at Chastain home East Mato Beret. Bride worked as a proofreader for Atlantic News before marriage and at Batter Service station since WWI era.

Town Election Result and Oath of Officials Aligns Next Meeting

The town elected Bernard Lege as mayor with Citizens ticket winning council seats. W B Motlen elected treasurer and Wv? Crawford chosen for park commission. Anita and other tickets trailed. New mayor and council members will take oath at the next town council meeting on April 6.

Mrs Naomi Richter Lowry formerly of Kahoa Missouri is hospitalized in University hospital Town City Iowa with a paralyzed hip and will wear a cast for several months. Mr and Mrs Hiram G Highley longtime Anita couple celebrated their 59th wedding anniversary. Married at Durant in April they moved to Anita in 1922 and have resided there since. Both in poor health Mrs Highley remains active with regular trips to Anita.

Kite Contest Draws Crowds at Ball Park Sunday

The kite contest at the ball park south of the Depot drew a well attended crowd on a windy day. Winners included Roger Rathman in multiple stick kite categories and George Legg in triangle box events. Prizes totaling over $20 were donated by local merchants.
