Gun claimed by Jesse James found in Iowa town
Valley Junction resident F J McCord reports a rusted revolver with four notches he says were cut by Jesse James during his Missouri rampages in the 1880s. McCord bought the gun in 1906 from a boy in Cameron, Missouri, who said it had been in his family for over twenty years. The boy’s father, as a boy, found the pistol after one James foray and hid it in the brush as the outlaws rode past. Other items note social visits, club meetings, and local happenings including garden advice and a dance at the K P hall.

Obituary of Godfrey Miller of Anita Iowa 1848 1926
Godfrey Miller son of Henry and Barbara Miller was born in Ganton Zurich Switzerland on January 4 1848 and died in Anita Iowa March 24 1926 aged 78 years 2 months 20 days He lived in Anita sixty years except four years at Minden Des Moines and Altoona He married Sophie Chapuis at Des Moines on June 8 1875 They had daughters Louise Margaret Anita Louise and Anita died as babies His wife died November 12 1919 He served as Anita assessor for sixteen years and town clerk He passed away after a pulmonary hemorrhage He is survived by two granddaughters Helen Shepherd Greenfield Iowa and Louise Trumbull Anita He also leaves a sister in law and two nieces in Switzerland Funeral services were at the Congregational church conducted by Rev H J Wilkins and Rev Robert N Chord Music by a local quartet Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.

Drake Relays Set at new Drake Stadium Next Month
The Drake relays will be held at the new Drake stadium on April 23 and 24. It is touted as one of the premier events worldwide with world record hopefuls and top universities plus midwestern high schools expected to participate. Local athlete Chas. Scholl suffered a flu setback, and John C. Faulkner of Sigma Nu won the 158-pound class in the inter-fraternity boxing tournament at Iowa City while displaying sportsmanship.

Hon. J.C. McClune state auditor reports returns from a shipment of hogs and cattle from his Iowa county farm to Chicago. He notes feeding costs, corn value, and eight pounds per bushel fed. All hogs were Spotted Poland China and pedigreed. Hogs inoculated at weaning time. He owns 24 calves a Hereford Black Polled Angus cross. Cows attend to weaning, and the herd quality is high.
