Andrew Schwab a longtime Anita resident dies near Meyronne Canada from a runaway wagon accident. His skull was fractured and jaw crushed while his wife and daughter were trapped in the wagon box. He leaves a large family and was buried in Meyronne Cemetery after services led by Rev. J C Madill.
A family introduces a stranger who may be the father. The child resists, recalling the parent died last spring, while adults insist the man is the missing parent returning now that the golfing club is closed. An ad for black salt and Farm ers' Coop appears at the end.
A pretty wedding was solemnized at St John’s Catholic Church in Adair as Miss Agnes Martina Tierney became bride of Mr. Francis Joseph Seivert of Colorado Springs. The ceremony was followed by a Solemn High Mass with several priests assisting and a reception at the bride’s home.
The Executive Council of Iowa on August 13 1923 levied 11.50 mills total on all taxable property for 1923 including 10.19 mills for general revenue and 1.31 mills for soldier bonus bonds interest. Weber of New York Life Insurance visited on business. Boots and poultry aids mentioned at Anita Drug Co. County Attorney Cockshoot reports $2,140 in fines from bootleggers this year. Edwin and Mrs. Smith of Creston visited relatives. Mrs. Smith is a Houck relative. Burkhart building debris sold for timber at $32 per thousand feet.
R GL Robinson of Omaha trustee of the Robinson Hardware store visited Anita with Mrs Robinson to finalize the transfer of stock and business to Paul T Edwards the new proprietor.
Mrs Maude Davies, visiting in Anita with her parents Mr and Mrs John H Aldrich, departs this week for Spokane Washington. She will pause at Green River Utah to stay a week with her brother in law 8 W Dufford and his family.
A thrilling afternoon race north of the city saw Chas L. Wilson’s horse win by a safe margin in what locals called an easy jaunt. Wagers were modest with not more than a million dollars changing hands on the outcome.
A man stole items from a J. M. Cram owned car parked in front of Hotel Victoria Sunday night. Missing are front lights with rims dimmers and bulbs leaving Jerry to wonder who took them.

Voorhees of the Anita Bank improved the Main and Chestnut corner by concreting a twelve foot parking area the full block length of about one hundred and fifty feet.
Miss Nellie Miller and Miss Margaret Miller return to Sioux City Saturday after visiting their sister Mrs. C W Garlock. They are accompanied by their friend Miss Margaret Hicks of Sioux City. The trio traveled by car.
The invitation committee reports many former residents responded about joining the Anita Home-Coming celebration. Some will be present while others regret distance illness and other causes prevent attendance.
Relatives in Anita report Mrs. Geo W Bates former resident of Anita is seriously ill at her Fairfield Iowa home with little chance of recovery. She was formerly Mrs Wm H Bosley widow of Sheriff W H Bosley of this county.
Seventeen year old Virginia Scott daughter of Roy Scott and granddaughter of Mrs. Frank Bontrager earns notice in Los Angeles amateur theatre. She has written prose and verse, produced a one act play, directed and acted in several productions, with a Los Angeles Record feature detailing her early career and bright prospects.
The Iowa Forum argues that for next year a Republican president, a Republican senate, and a Republican house are needed. It contends Senate Republicans should share some obligation to the party and act as Republicans beyond mere re election, not blindly follow the president.
