Rev W H Cable, former Anita M E church pastor with strong local ties, was named Superintendent of the Council Bluffs district at the Atlantic annual conference. He is expected to lead Methodist churches in the area effectively. Everett Hansen was a record caller Thursday.
William Polite had claimed a government back pension of 9840 dollars and said he served as a veteran. He now admits he was joking and possesses no such funds, likening the claim to believing a rabbit holds money.
H J Wiegand longtime traveling salesman for a wholesale leather and harness company leaves the road to buy a harness shop at Bel gard Nebraska. He moves his family from Fremont where they have lived and worked. Friends in Anita and nearby areas wish him success in the new venture.

Frank W. Stager who ran a Stuart restaurant has sold out to Charles D. McDermott of Fort Collins Colorado. McDermott turns the business over to his son Warren who now holds possession. Stager will return to Anita for a short time.
Charlie Karns displayed a new cucumber variety named the snake cucumber at L. AB. Gali her store last week. The elongated, snake-like cucumbers drew attention for their odd shape, while not being visually appealing.
The Cass County Fair drew strong attendance and fine exhibits despite foul weather. Races met expectations and managers report all expenses covered with a comfortable balance to the association.
Dr. C. V. Beaver attended Roy Enfield and four family members including Mrs Enfield a baby and Theodore Enfield after they fell ill from suspected poisoning after eating pudding. The symptoms pointed to cream or flavoring extract as the likely cause and prompt medical aid averted a worse outcome.
Mr. Crandall was thrown from a buggy when his family horse bolted on Main Street Saturday evening. He struck his head on the cement walk, suffering an ugly wound. The horse dashed toward the Crandall home then collided with a post near Robinson barn, overturning the buggy and breaking a wheel.
