The Anita Public Schools begin a new year with a stable total enrollment of 311 students, 183 in grades and 128 in the high school. The high school features expanding programs in commercial and industrial subjects, with a enlarged typewriting department and classes in book-keeping domestic science and manual training. Parents are urged to ensure daily attendance to make this a standout year.

Potatoes Rise From North Dakota Gifts To Editor

North Dakota crop woes show four undersized Early Ohio potatoes from Reuben Scholl near Washburn. The large samples measure 13.5 by 10 inches, 14 by 10 inches, and 16 by 10 inches, weighing just over five pounds total. Scholl says these culls are fed to hogs and sent to the Record editor as a generous gift.

Partnership Formed For Trucking Livestock And Merchandises

Charles Marshall and Emmet Wilson have formed a trucking partnership to haul livestock and merchandise over any distance at reasonable charges. The firm is equipped to handle the business and seeks public patronage. In recent months they hauled 56 loads to the South Omaha market with full satisfaction, all Omaha stock insured.

Golden Wedding Celebration for Mr and Mrs Minerman

The golden wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Minerman was observed at their home in Extra. Their daughter Mrs. Wm Wahlert of Anita and all their children and families joined in the day long celebration. The couple have lived in Audubon county for forty five years.

Auto crash narrowly averted at Main Street near highway No 32

A local woman's car collided with a west bound Omaha car Friday afternoon at the Main street intersection of federal highway No 32 near the Record office. The two vehicles clinched but only minor damage occurred as traffic rules were partially observed.

Mrs D A Stinman marked her eightieth birthday with a surprise by children grand children and great grandchildren. Rev R R Brown dedicated a hymn and a radio moment announced her name to her. A festive dinner followed with five children and families twenty two attendees plus five generation rhythm. Creston youngster Harriet Pace contributed music.

Death of Anita baby boy linked to suspected strangulation

The community mourns Billy Campbell eight month old son of Mr. and Mrs. Chas Campbell after a back and White Cafe incident. Doctors at Dr. G M Adair clinic failed to save him with authorities noting possible rupture of a blood vessel. Anita Boy to Fight in Prize Ring September 22

Dale Hansen son of Mrs. Fred Hansen of Anita is slated to fight in West Palm Beach Florida on Labor Day eve, as part of a big prize bout parallel to the Dempsey Tunney clash. Hansen recently defeated his rival before 5000 fans, aiming for an easy street if he wins again, while his friends in Anita and surrounding area root for his success. Hansen has worked for the Hertz Automobile Company in Palm Beach for several years, earning more than typical monthly wages.

Thomas Murrow of Des Moines on a business trip stopped in Anita to visit his sister Mrs Mick Forshay. He reached Omaha where an appendectomy was performed. A telephone said he could live only hours but a response improved and he was out of danger. His parents live in Corydon Iowa.

Hamilton Campbell leaves Monday for Streeter Illinois to attend the annual reunion of the 104th Illinois Infantry. He will visit a brother and relatives and old friends. Campbell is one of six surviving Meade Post No 50 Anita veterans, once over one hundred strong, planning a two week absence.
