Chris Brown returns from a pleasure trip to his old hometown in Bureau county Illinois. He notes crop conditions similar to Cass county Iowa but finds local conditions more favorable with corn progressing enough to escape frost danger.
E Jewett and C Taylor joined Warren Stewart and Patt Wallis for a horseshoe pitching contest in Adair. The Adair boys won five of eight games. Warren Stewart recorded 64.4 percent ringers in a game.
The M. E. parsonage project halted despite a settlement with the contractor two weeks ago. A 3000 payment was made with plans to resume, but the contractor, delayed by illness, says he deposited the funds in Anita's Citizens State Bank, which closed last week, leaving no funds to continue work.
Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Williams visited Mrs. Nancy Edwards in Adair, coming from Earham where they stayed with Mrs. J. M. Trumbull who has been ill. They plan another Adair visit and then travel to New Mexico for Mr Williams health. Mrs Williams formerly known as Miss Orlen Trumbull, longtime Adair resident.
