Memory of Camp Dodge Remains Only as Fields and Warehouses
The dismantling of Camp Dodge ends the era of the National Guard encampment. Only two brick warehouses survive at the south entrance while government land reverts to owners. The former hospital site, theatre, YMCA hall, and other facilities are now fields and corn. The state owns acres for future permanent guard buildings and a rifle range, with access to the grounds forbidden. The era of a vast military camp fades into memory.
