Jacob Main longtime Anita Searsboro resident died at Mercy hospital Oskaloosa Iowa on April 29 1926 at age sixty nine years six months. He is survived by his son De Vere Main two brothers and a sister. Interment with full Masonic honors at Evergreen Cemetery Obedience Lodge No 380 Anita.

Contest held Friday at Atlantic High School auditorium with six schools An ita Atlantic Audubon Harlan Griswold Walnut 400 to 500 pupils. Audubon won first, Atlantic second, Anita third. Anita entered nine groups earning five thirds and two seconds including Fifth grade Eighth grade Girls Sextette Boys Double Quartette and Mixed Quartette. Wenonah Forshay placed second in the afternoon solo group.

Costly barn fire guts Ed Gardner farm near Anita
A large stock and hay barn on Walter Root's Ed Gardner farm northwest of Anita in Benton township burned down Monday night. Fire destroyed horses, a cow, pigs, a Ford coupe, corn planter, cultivator, harness, seed corn and more with limited insurance. The barn, built by W. W. Eller, cost over 25000 and was insured for 1250. Insurance through Superong of Anita arranged losses.

Former Anita Lady Dies After Brief Illness
Mrs John Clarkson a well known Anita resident died suddenly at her Winterset home from childbirth in May 1926 at age 34. She was born June 1 1891 at Patterson Iowa and lived in Madison county most her life. She married John Clarkson in 1907 and left eight children surviving with husband and three daughters predeceased. Funeral services were held in Winterset and Anita with burial at Evergreen cemetery.

Rural mail routes Nos. one and two from Anita will be merged with veteran carrier S V Metheny covering both. Route one will run in the forenoon and route two in the afternoon, totaling about fifty miles. The change saves about $800 yearly and may lead to further consolidations, with H B Dressler moving to route four after the death of Herbert Von Blohn.
