The mother of Leslie E. Bean of this city died at her Casey Iowa home March 21 1923 after long illness. Born July 1858 Beaver Dam Wisconsin she married Holton D. Bean in 1876 and left two daughters Dora and Georgia and son Leslie. Funeral Monday at Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Couehman.

The eightieth birthday of Uncle Billy Suplee was observed at his Anita home last Sunday with a large family dinner. Relatives from Chas N Campbell and Suplee attended while four sons in Long Island Kansas Payette Idaho Planking-ton South Dakota and Miller Nebraska were absent. He is a long time Anita resident and a 50 year Mason and Civil War veteran with Mother Suplee by his side.

Anita Receives Modernized Postoffice Facilities
After months of talks Dr. H E Campbell signed a ten year lease with the Postoffice Department for a Main street building to serve as Anita’s post office. The upgrade includes 430 lock boxes, interior re rearrangement, and added space for mail handling plus light and fuel. Local staff includes Postmaster Harry H Cate and assistants Edwin Cate Beulah Slater with carriers on four rural routes. Additional notes mention community figures and a few local moves and visits.

Pioneer Settlers Celebrate Golden Wedding in Atlantic
Mr. and Mrs. O. W. Wheatley, longtime residents at 711 Hickory Street, Atlantic Iowa, marked their fiftieth wedding anniversary on March 20. The couple, born in Vermont and Pennsylvania respectively, married in 1873 and later moved to Maine before settling in Atlantic. They raised ten children, boast thirty grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, and have enjoyed travels and good health into old age.

The box and pie supper at Spring Hill School three miles north of Killduff Saturday night March 24 drew a large crowd despite bad roads. Pupils performed recitations dialogues and a pantomime with a one act play by local youths. Proceeds totaled 30.25. Miss Pansey M. Smith of Anita teaches the school. Mrs. L. B. Trumbull stayed home due to illness. Peter Seow Jr of Adair rewired the post office building to fit new plans for interior renovations.

Life of Hattie Dorsey Laid to Rest After Long Iowa Life
Hattie Dorsey born March 10 1854 in Johnson County Iowa died March 21 1923 at her daughter’s Davenport home at sixty nine years eleven days. She married Charles B Dorsey in 1872 at Iowa City and had sixteen children, thirteen living. The family moved from Johnson to Adair Cass and finally Anita where Charles died January 10 1912. Mary Seamon died January 16 1923 in Wichita Falls Texas. Surviving children include Leslie L Charles B E C Ollie Taylor Harry E Herve H Fred D Frank S Maude Vinal Lucy Owen Laura Latig Mattie Darran Laurence and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Funeral held March 25 1925 at M E Church with Rev. Alva Jacobs officiating. Burial Evergreen Cemetery. Bearers Garnet Seaman Claude Dorsey Cecil Taylor Deveen Taylor Clifford Dorsey Jesse Taylor.
