John D Peterson born December 13 1854 near Mount Etna Adams County Iowa died June 12 1929 at Anita Cass County Iowa at age 74 5 29 after years of illness. Survived by wife Mary Jane Berry seven children three brothers and three sisters. A prominent farmer breeder and Republican who served in the Iowa General Assembly in 1912.

Miss Yolande Earl daughter of Robi G Earl and grand-daughter of A J Earl of Milo is praised for graduating eighth grade with highest honors and winning first place as best speller in the county. Her father Bob Earl, born in Anita, was noted as bright in Anita public schools, while her mother long served as a Missouri teacher before marriage.

A county Royal Neighbors Camps meeting will be held in Anita at the Masonic Temple on Friday June 28 with an appropriate program including special drills. An officer from the State Camp of Cedar Rapids will address the gathering. Local Camp ladies will serve dinner and supper.

Campbell Couple Return From Prescott After Caring For Mother

L. C. Campbell and his wife returned from Prescott Iowa where they cared for Mrs. A Bishop mother of Mrs Campbell who died recently at seventy three after a protracted illness caused by age and complications.

A. Bishop, widow of a recent death at the family home near Prescott Iowa, resides with son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Lew C Campbell on Locust street Anita. Resident of Adams county since 1881 he farmed the same land forty eight years and is in good health and will be warmly received by old army comrades. Ada Woods former resident of Anita wife of Thos J Woods died at Nevada Missouri June 7 1929 after brief illness. Home Missionary Society elects officers at Anita church meeting

The Women's Home Missionary Society of the Anita M. E. church met at Mrs. Mary Black's home with large attendance. Mrs. Black led devotions, officers for the year were elected, and plans for the societies work were discussed. Mrs. H. P Ziegler reported on Mothers' Jewels and a visit to the Atlantic Auxiliary. An enigma contest and a Christmas card sale plan were noted. Refreshments were served by Mrs. Black and Mrs. E. W Holmes.
