Survived by wife Mary Jane Berry seven children three brothers and three sisters. A prominent farmer breeder and Republican who served in the Iowa General Assembly in 1912.

The Women's Home Missionary Society of the Anita M. E. church met at Mrs. Mary Black's home with large attendance.
