Miss Anna O'Leary will remain in Menlo for the coming school year. She has received offers from western states including Wyoming but cites re election in Menlo, salary increase, and grateful regard for the school board pupils and people as reasons to stay.
The couple plans a six twenty June wedding at the bride’s parents home in Cedar Hill New Mexico. After August first the Floyds will reside in Pagosa Springs Colorado. The bride, born in Anita, grew to womanhood there and has taught in Colorado Springs schools for several years.
Mrs Dr G H Parchen was struck on the neck by a large scoop board end gate blown from a wagon by strong wind while visiting Clinton Carey. She was knocked unconscious for hours and later sent home to recover with her father Clinton Carey.
At the April term of the district court Myron T Parmley was granted a divorce from Nettie Parmley for cruel and inhuman treatment. The couple, who had a brief jail sentence for him, were remarried Monday by Judge Pressnall in Anita. Friends hope for a permanent renewal of married life.
Hans Nelson, long tied to the Brown property west of town, vanished after selling a cow and calf belonging to Mrs. Brown and sending the proceeds away. He boarded with Leslie Randall and wife, unmarried, and reportedly had a one sided romance with a local girl who ended the affair. Nelson left for parts unknown, seeking to forget the heartbreak.
Mrs. Ek W Holmes of Anita visited her daughter Mrs. R J Cornell and other relatives this past Saturday morning. She returned home Tuesday evening with Mr and Mrs Wray Wilson and their children by automobile. Holmes lived in Massena for over twenty years before moving six years ago and still regards the city as home.
A large Wheatley family reunion was hosted by Mr. and Mrs. C. W. Wheatley last Sunday. More than fifty guests attended, sharing a pleasant day and a bountiful dinner. Attendees from the Atlantic area included L. W. and J. O. Wheatley, Walter Pellett, Henry Walters, and John Welch.
The Ladies Society will serve dinner in the M K church dining room on Friday June 12. Dinner will be ready at 11 30. Ice cream and cake will also be served.

J C Aldrich field manager for Woodmen of the World spends the week in Anita to organize and institute a new lodge. The order offers life insurance in amounts from 500 to 3000 dollars to members and is noted as a popular social order.
The railroad ships water from Creston in tank cars to the town water tank due to a conflict with landowner T. T. Saunders of Anita who claims back rent. Saunders has attached the pumping station and windmill.

At a Monday night business men's meeting in Anita it was decided not to celebrate July 4th this year. Citizens are free to direct their patriotism to other events or locations that suit their convenience.
The office of the Secretary of State ordered collection of delinquent automobile licenses. The operation led to the arrest of many auto owners in Atlantic. Those arrested faced fines and costs from 25 dollars upward. Since, a rush to pay has emerged around the Captain's office.
Report states Dutch Scholl was pinched by Officer Dean on Monday morning. A photograph of the incident was shown Monday evening at the Opera House, confirming the event to locals.
Mr and Mrs C Caldwell long residents of Berea now reside in Almena Kansas. They will travel to California later this month with their son in law William Suplee and wife. Both families expect to settle in the new location in the near future.
Nichols and Petit petition Anita town council seeking permission to alter alleys through their newly platted tracts in the north territory. The requests aim to establish necessary access routes for future town lots.

A protracted all day checker match in Anita featured W H Shultz of Benton township L H Forsythe of Wiota and four Earlham men. Shultz and Forsythe were declared easy winners after a heated start to finish contest.
A seven year old son of Mr and Mrs Roy Taylor was taken to Atlantic hospital Monday evening for spleen access surgery performed by Dr H Campbell of Atlantic and Dr C L Campbell. The illness, linked to water from a nearby slough, prompted a successful operation with removal of poisonous pus and near immediate relief. The patient shows signs of recovery.
Neighbors in Anita greet Chicago Senator Jas E Bruce warmly during a homecoming visit. The affable figure known as Jim or Old Tilda enjoyed the reception and stayed briefly with Edna Bruce visiting relatives and old schoolmates.
