Mrs Parchen Injured by Wind Tossed Scoop Board

Mrs Dr G H Parchen was struck on the neck by a large scoop board end gate blown from a wagon by strong wind while visiting Clinton Carey. She was knocked unconscious for hours and later sent home to recover with her father Clinton Carey.

Parmley Divorce Granted Then Reconciled in Anita

At the April term of the district court Myron T Parmley was granted a divorce from Nettie Parmley for cruel and inhuman treatment. The couple, who had a brief jail sentence for him, were remarried Monday by Judge Pressnall in Anita. Friends hope for a permanent renewal of married life.

Disappearance of Hans Nelson from Euphemia Brown's farm

Hans Nelson, long tied to the Brown property west of town, vanished after selling a cow and calf belonging to Mrs. Brown and sending the proceeds away. He boarded with Leslie Randall and wife, unmarried, and reportedly had a one sided romance with a local girl who ended the affair. Nelson left for parts unknown, seeking to forget the heartbreak.

Makes Visit to the Old Home

Mrs. Ek W Holmes of Anita visited her daughter Mrs. R J Cornell and other relatives this past Saturday morning. She returned home Tuesday evening with Mr and Mrs Wray Wilson and their children by automobile. Holmes lived in Massena for over twenty years before moving six years ago and still regards the city as home.

A protracted all day checker match in Anita featured W H Shultz of Benton township L H Forsythe of Wiota and four Earlham men. Shultz and Forsythe were declared easy winners after a heated start to finish contest.

Seven Year Old Boy Undergoes Spleen Operation

A seven year old son of Mr and Mrs Roy Taylor was taken to Atlantic hospital Monday evening for spleen access surgery performed by Dr H Campbell of Atlantic and Dr C L Campbell. The illness, linked to water from a nearby slough, prompted a successful operation with removal of poisonous pus and near immediate relief. The patient shows signs of recovery.

Senator Bruce Visits Anita During Weekend Tour

Neighbors in Anita greet Chicago Senator Jas E Bruce warmly during a homecoming visit. The affable figure known as Jim or Old Tilda enjoyed the reception and stayed briefly with Edna Bruce visiting relatives and old schoolmates.
