Bosley Pioneer Journalist Dies in Cedar Rapids

Ren S. Bosley longtime Anita resident dies at St Luke's hospital Cedar Rapids following a brief illness from heart attack he endured for years. Born September 27 1862 in Cumberland Maryland he lived in Anita since 1874 and worked as a newspaper man with posts in Massena Chelsea Newhall later. Funeral held in Cedar Rapids then burial back in Anita with his widow Mattie Roe Bosley and son Clyde M. Bosley surviving along with siblings and other relatives.

Former Anita Pastor Among 150 Ministers at Iowa Evangelical Conference

Des Moines hosts an Iowa Evangelical conference session with over 150 ministers. Rev. Chas Stauffacher, formerly pastor at Anita Evangelical Church, now serves as field secretary for missionary work. His wife Madge is an Anita native, daughter of the late Geo Worthing, longtime Anita residents. His father served as Presiding Elder in the district.

Wagner heads to Minnesota fishing trip with sons

J. A. Wagner will leave next month for an extended fishing trip to northern Minnesota and be absent for several weeks. He will be joined by his sons Norman of Anita Raymond of Connecticut and Roscoe of Clinton Iowa for a genuine father and sons outing not seen together for years.

Obituary of Gladys Herrick Pettegrew of Afton Iowa

Gladys Mildred Herrick born September 8 1903 in Adair county Iowa died May 30 1929 eight miles north of Afton from complications after a surgical operation. She married Glen A. Pettegrew March 19 1921 and had three children LeVon Irene Elton Glen and Robert LeRoy. Survived by husband three children her parents Mr and Mrs W E Herrick Anita sister Mrs Ema Storer Wiota and many relatives. funeral at M E church Afton Saturday at 4 PM with interment in Afton cemetery.

Passing of the Grand Army in Anita Iowa

The Meade Post No 50 G A R of Anita, once near a hundred members, has dwindled to six survivors: William White Adnah D Bullock Hamilton Campbell Bertrand Stauffer Albert G Conley and John C Kelley. The first five attended Memorial Day services while Kelley was bedridden at home on east Main street. All honor to the Boys in Blue of the Sixties.

Mrs Royce Forshay and Mrs Lester Heckman hosted a crystal and china shower for Miss Gladys Pray, bride elect of B W Horswell of Armstrong Iowa.
