Early laying pullets pay best says Iowa Institute
The Blue Valley Creamery Institute reports pullets maturing sooner lay more eggs in the first year. White Leghorns maturing under six months produced 168 eggs versus 146 for seven to eight months and 93 for ten months. Earliest maturity may be hastened by minerals including iron with a galron sulfate mix in drinking water.
