Stern Becomes Favored in Iowa Farm Loan Board Race
Washington reports show Willis L. Stern of Logan leading W. S. A. Smith for the farm loan board seat with support from ten of thirteen Iowa Republicans in Congress and state officials including Governor Kendall. The issue centers on Smith’s 1914 endorsement of Tom Steele and Wilson policies, contrasted with Stern’s party loyalty. A. E. Johnson of Sioux City, a World War veteran, is visiting his parents while attending a state auto tractor school under a government vocational program.
