Gordon Stone Dies After Auto Accident in Anita
Gordon Earl Stone died at 1:30 a.m. Sunday following an auto accident at the Anita Bank intersection on Main Street the prior evening. Edward Bell, driver of the car, struck Stone as he crossed toward the W. F. Crawford store. Stone, a longtime Anita resident, leaves two sisters and two brothers, with arrangements pending. He was 76.

J B Bert Prall, longtime Cass County resident and former Atlantic councilman at large, died of apoplexy likely Friday night. He was found Sunday at 3 30 p m in the Elks Club dining room in Atlantic. Survived by wife Elsie McKnight and eight children. Funeral service held Wednesday at the Elks Club with Rev L A Spooner officiating. Interment in Atlantic cemetery.

A chimney fire at Levi Walker’s northeast of Anita caused wide concern as sparks and flames leaped from the chimney. Neighbors responded quickly and the local fire department stood by with water ready until the danger passed.

Des Moines received word of the death of William J. Weston a civil war veteran and longtime Anita resident who died at Money hospital after years of illness at age eighty. He was born August 21 1846 in Fond du Lac Wisconsin and survived by his son Dr Robt A Weston of Des Moines and two daughters Mrs Ethel Teter of Moberly Missouri and Mrs Bessie Parkinson of Massena. The body was brought to Anita for funeral services at the Congregational church conducted by Rev W L Waters with interment at Evergreen cemetery.
