Dr C V Beaver reports twin baby boys born to Mr and Mrs Ray Nichols last Friday. The note mentions the double blessing guiding parental reflection on the high cost of living and praises Grandma Nichols for looking after "Old Nat" to keep him calm.
Hon John D Peterson of Cass County announces to the Atlantic News Telegraph he will not seek re nomination. Clarence Sword and wife of Des Moines visited the Burkharts and shared Lamark Illinois graduation memories. Sword works as a draughtsman for a Des Moines Milling company.
A large sale of horses cattle hogs and farm implements at the Joe Trimmer farm two miles south of Anita on February 17 and 18. Auctioneers are Jones and Dean. Full particulars and itemized stock to be listed in next week’s Record.
After a highly creditable exam, Miss Hazel Trimmer returns from Ames College for the holidays and will stay in town until her parents move and settle in.
A young Adair man discharged a revolver by mistaking it unloaded and a bullet struck Miss Ollie Bain in the arm. She was taken to Atlantic for treatment and the injury examined with an X ray after the incident with a group of youths.
George B. Garside, returning from Florida, sent a box of oranges by express. On paying at the destination, he found the charge four dollars, though he had been told in Florida to expect two to three dollars. He lamented it would have been better via Parcel Post.
Mrs Walter Hook of Anita was the guest of Miss O Leary in Menlo last week She attended the Rebekah Lodge meeting on Thursday and joined the Home Coming event praised as a great treat Hook has 21 years as a Rebekah and has visited many Lodges and held offices praising Menlo lodge work and talent.
Farmers between Adair and Anita wire homes and barns to the electric light plant. Adair provides Anita with lights and nearby farms add branch wires. Menlo area farms could also benefit, making chores brighter and easier than smoky lanterns or poor light.
A barn on a property sold by W. J. Weston to B. F. Simpson burned between three and four oclock Monday, destroying a team of Sammy Karns horses leased to the building and six Karns brothers horses. Harness, hay, grain and other goods were lost. origin unknown. The barn was insured for 100 dollars and the loss paid through the E. B. Holton agency.
