New Dog License Law Requires Annual Applications
The new ordinance requires every dog three months or older to obtain a license by January 15 1922 and each year thereafter. Owners must apply to the county auditor and tag each dog with a metal tag and license card. A person owning or harboring a dog is defined as the owner and it is unlawful for others to remove the license or tag. Peace officers are instructed to kill dogs found without collar or tag and dogs without license are deemed wild with no recognized property rights.
