The Andews News announces a change to a Friday publication with press by Thursday noon and delivery to rural routes on Friday morning, ensuring timely post office placement each week.
Rumors circulate in Columbia that Horry County seeks to form a new county with Loris as its seat. Loris lies on the Atlantic Coast Line about seven miles from the North Carolina border, while Conway remains the present county seat about 18 miles away.
The Tri County Fair opens next Tuesday morning with exhibits from Berkeley Williamsburg and Georgetown. Women and girls are urged to submit jars of fruit canned preserves and dried goods for the household department. The fancy and needle work department seeks embroidery tatting crochet drawn work and other hand crafted pieces. Floral displays are welcomed especially larger pot plants and cut flowers. The fine arts department invites pictures china and carving. Relics and antiques from the counties will add to the fair’s beauty. Send in prized items to ensure a thriving show.
Special to The Andrews News lists many hospitality visits among Abbott Morris Browder Britt and Howard families across Piney Forest. Regional relatives gather, with several guests from Charleston Rhems Trio and 8S. The item closes with a health update on a baby and an upcoming church preaching event from October 17 to 19 inviting all.
The Twentieth Century Mothers Club will hold its monthly meeting on Friday October 8 at the K of P Hall. All members are urged to attend for an interesting program and important matters to be discussed.
Mrs Arthur McCall of Florence visited Miss Hazard and then stayed with her parents on Leg Island. Numerous local residents and visitors traveled, hosted guests, or attended dances and boat rides, with Columbia, Charleston, Pittsfield and Savannah mentioned among trips and stays.
Miss Helen Von Kolnitz will lead several illustrated story hours for Andrews children during the Tri-County Fair, part of the Charleston Museum exhibit. The event offers local boys and girls a chance to hear top stories with engaging illustrations by a gifted storyteller.

News from Punching Creek Route 1 notes widespread illness and heavy rain hindering crops like cotton and hay. George Munson hosts a wood sawing night at his home with neighbors, followed by a hearty supper and music by Miss Retha Swails and Mrs Munson.
The second Annual Tri County Fair opens next Tuesday morning in Andrews with gates at 8:30. Exhibits fill four buildings including a government display and a Navy photo exhibit shown free. Winthrop College home demonstration and Charleston Museum displays join state road progress and health exhibits. The James Benson Shows will operate the midways with night openings Thursday.
Seaboard railway offers round trip tickets for the Tri County Fair at Andrews with return by October 16. Children five to eleven pay half fare, under five ride free with a parent, twelve and over pay full fare. Tickets must be bought before boarding and no stopovers are allowed.
State prison officials report a full whiskey still discovered in a prison basement during a routine inspection. A prisoner serving a life sentence confessed to having built and attempted to operate the illicit distillery.
A group from Andrewsite salesmen traveled to Georgetown last Saturday to market Tri-County Fair season tickets. About one hundred tickets were sold for a profitable and pleasant trip despite a few cars stuck in mud. The day featured Mr. C. J. An, Mr. H. S. Parsons, Mrs. C. W. Spradley, and other local residents including Prof. Kizer and Raymond Andrews.

Hogs must be treated before entry or given serum on Monday October 11 at the Fair grounds as Jas. D. Lee notes. Cattle may be admitted without a certificate if free from contagious or infectious disease symptoms.
The South Carolina Development Board plans a statewide push to buy agricultural products and manufactured articles made in the state. Neils Christensen, board president, says officers and executive committee will be elected at the Columbia meeting on Tuesday October 5. The board will also discuss markets livestock drainage health sanitation resources industrial research and a membership campaign.
Miss Etta Boyd of Trio and Mr Richard Smith of Bloomingvale were quietly married at the Baptist Pastorium on Wednesday afternoon October 6. Miss Boyd has taught Bloomingvale school for several sessions and is employed for the present term. Mr Smith is a progressive farmer in the Bloomingvale area. We predict a happy future for the couple.
