Tickets for the Mus tang Indian grid game in Seminole go on sale at the school business office. About 1,044 tickets were released Wednesday morning and are available today from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and until noon Friday.
Ten junior girls at Andrews Senior High School were elected to compete for the beauty queen title at the Andrews County Fair on October 3 and 5. Booths are filled with oil and educational displays, and the parade will line up at 2:30 pm on October 3 near Northwest 5th Street to start at 3 pm, with the fair opening after the parade.
Four suspects from California were jailed on forgery and passing forged checks after being stopped by Officer Earl Cummins as they left town. They allegedly used a forged H C Duncan signature to cash checks up to 230 dollars and had broken into the Liberty Well Servicing office to steal a checkbook and a printing machine. Tim Graham Howard Bevers Randall McKee and Janet Gonzales remain in county jail on forgery counts.
A Texas cool front lowered Andrews area highs from the low 90s to the 70s early this week. After a surge to mid 90s later, cooler conditions persisted with frequent cloudiness and night lows dipping into the 50s. Readings from Sept 18 to Sept 24 show a drop from 92 58 to 74 56 with daytime highs varying in the mid 70s.
Speaker Waggoner Carr of Lubbock told the Andrews Downtown Lions Club luncheon that one third of every working day goes to government. He praised Rep Wesely Roberts, outlined plans for centralized state buildings to save rent, and urged citizens to support mental health research and prison reform to reduce future costs.
Seven indictments were returned by the Andrews County Grand Jury after a day of sessions. Forgery charges involve Reba King, Billy R. Brown, and Billy Maxwell over forged checks in town. Ray A Rue and David Fisher face burglary counts for a Smith Drug break in August with drugs and narcotics taken. Lem Jones indicted for theft by pretext on a bad check. Bob Carson Gregg charged with the murder of Austin Addison on a Gaines Andrews county line farm. Trial dates set for four criminal cases including the John Dee Burk murder in district court.

Architect Virgel A. Davis offers preliminary jail site plans for a West Broadway city hall, contingent on bond approval and tentative hiring.
City mail delivery faced delays as residents failed to update addresses for new home delivery. Andrews, Texas, started full citywide home delivery, but workers lacked prior experience and rerouted mail overnight. By Tuesday all routes were nearly complete, but overdue mail and missing street numbers hampered service. Postmaster Harold Roberts urged residents to display the correct addresses.
